Photographs of Physics Project
Our photographs of the physics project was about optics and the cool things that light does.
This is My camera obscura photograph, its of the Hash Slinging Slasher.
- What was your greatest strength, and how did it come out, during this project? Be specific!
I really enjoyed the camera obscura and the pinhole camera parts of this project. I understood a lot of it and it made sense. I did learn a lot though. Like i never knew that if you shined light through a small hole it would come out upside down on the other side.
- What was your greatest challenge, obstacle, and/or area for growth during this project? How did you deal with this? How will you handle similar situations moving forward?
Probably procrastination. For the pinhole camera assignment i didn't get it done until a while after it was due. And I don't do a lot of my assignments until they are almost due. That's one of my biggest struggles with school in general as well.
- What is your number one takeaway from this project? Why is it your biggest takeaway? Where is this learning seen in your work?
That light is a pretty cool thing. It's both a particle and a wave and it always takes the fastest path. It also does some pretty wacky things. Like the green flash which is an illusion that happens as the sun is going over the horizon and a big green flash appears because of how it refracts through the air.
- How did you grow as a scientist during this project?
As a scientist I grew because I learned about optics which are super interesting. Like I never knew that it was possible to see things like ultraviolet light (if you're a Mantis Shrimp) and now I understand how light works.
- How do you feel you did on this project?
I think i at least did ok. I didn't do amazing because of procrastination but I didn't do horrible either. I think if i were to give myself a grade on it i would give myself a B- because i understood it and i did ok work on it.
Electromagnetism
In this project we learned about electromagnetism and just magnets in general. we learned about the magnetic fields of the earth and how electricity and magnetism fit together very well to create electromagnets. we learned how electromagnets work and how they make up things like motors and speakers.
For my project, I partnered with Ashlee Parker and made this tiny motor powered boat (Named after her dog Remi) that floats on water and moves around.
